PROCEEDINGS PREFACE
When I heard the first discussions break about the "Cold Fusion" flap among the faculty and graduate students, I was in the lofty Gamow Physics tower of Boulder, Colorado. I held my breath. Anticipation filled the air - what news were we about to hear of a new breakthrough in observable, unexplained, phenomena? Surely there would be great excitement boiling within the scientific community! The answer was pursed on the lips of a revered faculty member.
Our enthusiasm was to last at most five seconds before the cynicism and criticism bit the air. All we heard were words of fraud, ruined careers, and examples of bad science. My heart sank, and I immediately stuck my head back in the books in pursuit of my Ph.D. in physics. Any "awe" that could possibly be felt about physics would be limited to wondering how to last through finals, and the only "New Frontier" was the uncertainty of what contracts would be available for the summer.
Five years later, I find myself working furiously for an organization that brings together researchers from all over the world to present such topics as "Cold Fusion", supermagnetics, and many other fringe concepts within the field of New Energy. I have also redirected my own fundamental research goals toward areas that the field of New Energy embraces. What happened? It was really quite simple. I, as many others, have regained "awe" for the universe and New Energy has become the "New Frontier"!
Not since the days of Mercury, Gemini and Apollo has there been the excitement and passion that I am witnessing now, and the potential for massive, positive world changes are far more dramatic from New Energy. The passion that had been lost to the dreams of the past have now, once again, become part of our reality - and this time there is no stopping it!
These Proceedings are a compendium of the papers presented by the participants to the Third Intentional Symposium on New Energy in Denver, Colorado. I am so thankful to have been an instrument in realizing this wonderful forum, and extend my warmest thanks to all those with whom I worked so closely to realize this event. Through the Academy for New Energy, I, and many other dedicated individuals, have made it our goal to offer a stimulating and nourishing environment for the exchange of ideas among researchers, and to educate the lay public regarding New Energy. We invite and welcome all of like mind to participate with us now, and in the future, to realize these goals.
