As requested in your email (sent Wed, 29 Oct 1997 17:11:42 -0800 ) I am enclosing a summary of the information in my web site at http://www.free-energy.co.uk.

I would be very pleased if you would add it to your New Energy News letter as you suggested.

PERPETUAL MOTION - AN ANCIENT MYSTERY SOLVED?

A new book has just been published which appears to be promoting a thesis that rejects certain hallowed beliefs held since Newton's time. Namely that perpetual motion is possible. The impression is false. What in fact the author is suggesting is that a rather infamous man whose real name was Johann Bessler but who used the pseudonym Orffyreus was not the criminal that everyone believes him to be.

Having spent most of his spare time in the last ten to fifteen years researching the life of Bessler, John Collins, the author of the above book, has uncovered numerous documents which appear to show conclusively, that the inventor was genuine in his claim that he had discovered a way of making a perpetual motion machine. Obviously this information contradicted accepted fact, i.e. even if you could make a machine which ran for ever, it could not do work. John Collins decided to accept for argument's sake, that Bessler was genuine, and taking this as a starting point he worked backwards taking into account all the information he had gathered about the Bessler machine. Ultimately he was able to show that if we accept that Bessler was wrong about assigning the term 'perpetual motion' to his machine, then we are half-way to understanding how Bessler was able to achieve the astonishing results credited to him.

If the only information available to us suggesting that Bessler was genuine, was in the form of letters, this might be regarded as merely circumstantial. This is not the whole story though. The tests carried out on the machine are known and accepted fact but because of the notoriety surrounding the life of Bessler, through no fault of his own, these facts have been ignored or glossed over. John Collins, however, an engineer of some thirty years experience, had had his attention drawn to the claims of Bessler by some rather remarkable information contained in very scathing account of Bessler's life. It was this initial information which set the author on the long journey which culminated in the publication of his book.

Despite a wealth of unassailable argument, analogy and demonstration, modern academics have been slow to accept the author's findings with the result that no publication of his ideas has been permitted in any of the reputable publications. By-passing this traditional method, and reaching out to a world-wide media, the author has set out his ideas on his web site at http://www.free-energy.co.uk and it is from this site that his book is currently available.
