Hello Dan an All, I have no experience in the roller skate motor. But, I
built the "Adams type test motor for energy recovery" on John's website.
Something is
not right if you are having a heating problem. I suspect a timing problem.
With the one I built, the timing can be adjusted very easily. Once I got
mine timed correctly or close...there is no heating at all,
switches,coils... nothing. To start with, I had some coil heat. I knew it
wasnt right by the spikes on the scope. Plus, I have read some writings by
Mr. Adams saying if there is any heat, the motor is not working correctly.
In fact, he says the coil cores should be operating at 20 degrees below
ambient for the motor to pass into a state of electromotive resonance where
imput power drops dramatically and shaft power increases in the negative
time and negative energy region. (Sounds of Tom Bearden!) I must say mine
is nowhere perfect, because of mechanical switches. But is is very
impressive and with no heat at all. When mine is converted to transistor
switching and being able to adjust the timing, I hope to see Mr Adams
results. Keep on trying Dan. Regards, Robert H. Calloway
