Here is the headline from the London Observer for March 9, 2000:
"True Elixir of Youth To Rejuvenate the Elderly Coming."
I will quote part of the story: "An elixir that will rejuvenate the
hearts and other muscles of elderly people is being developed by scientists.
the breakthrough could soon enable 80-year-olds to throw away their walking
sticks and Zimmer Frames. Research on the drugs called breakers is being
pioneered by one of Americas leading Medical Researchers, Professor Tony
Cerami. Last week he revealed they had re-invigorated the muscles and
arteries of dogs and monkeys......old dogs had the vigor of puppies."
Basicly, the article explains, over many years the glucose in our
bodies is baked by the heat of our body causing proteins to clump together.
This causes joints, arteries and and heart tissues to stiffen. The new drug
ALT-711 breaks the bonds caused by the glucose reversing the effects of
ageing. Thats why the drug is called a breaker. The important point to
realise, in my opinion. is that this doesn't just slow this aspect of ageing
it truly reverse it. According to the story, old dogs and monkeys were
bounding around full of energy. You can read the full story at:
