Hi Folks!

This is an email response to a fellow who was interested in
vapor carbs;

It's weird, people don't seem to pay much attention to vapor
carburetors and ways to improve gas mileage until gas prices
go up radically.

It was suggested by a friend that the reason for this
'election year' gas price rise was to get Bush into office
since the Saudis owed George senior a big debt and figured
his son would be good for them too, so thats why they raised
the prices.

Here are some contacts and URLs for vapor carburetor
systems;

In those days carburetors and spark plugs or even
vaporizers were not thought of. The method used was to draw
the vapor from the top of the gasoline tank. This was very
dangerous on account of back firing, and I came near being
blown up by an explosion of one of these tanks during one of
my experiments. Next came the vaporizers. We made these
ourselves, as there were no concerns manufacturing them at
that time; in fact, we had to make every part of our engine,
including our first spark plug.

I understand that any tinkering with anything PRIOR to the
catalytic converter is subject to a fine of $50,000 in
Texas.

Modifying your car may violate Federal, State and local
emissions laws and regulations. Emissions equipment does
make the world a better place (ask any Californian.) It
isn't that much harder to set up an emissions legal system,
especially with junkyard parts.

Does anyone have any specific URLs specifying what kind of
fines or penalties can be incurred if you tinker with your
carburetor?

Its kind of an important thing to know since some people are
interested in burning hydrogen extracted from water, others
want to mix water with combustible fuels.

I'd think the bottomline would just do an emission test and
if it passed, then you're in, but it would be disheartening
to take your modified car in for inspection and end up being
fined for modifying it beyond the EPA, FED or State
guidelines....better to know beforehand.
