I have a friend that built a version of the dean drive in the 1960's. after
much playing around, they got it to rise vertically in the air a couple
feet.
a bystander watching, reached over and turned up some knobs controling the
oscillations, the drive sped extremely fast straight up till it reached the
end of the cord supplying power. at that point, the cord broke loose, and
the drive continued up till all momentium was gone, then came back down and
crashed. he got the plans from an artical in popular science(i think) from
the 60's. I also heard that dieboldt safe company has the patent right on it
and has built a modified version to lift safes up a few inches for
transport. does anyone have a copy of this article in popular(science?).
thanks,
