The Trampofoil A1, developed in Sweden, holds the distinction as
being the first commercially available human-powered hydrofoil in the
world. Propulsion comes from the hydrodynamic wings that flap up and
down underwater as you jump up and down on a narrow platform.

To get started, you have to push off from a dock or jetty and begin
hopping. Once you get a good rhythm going, you can hit close to
15 mph with this rig, so it's the real hot rod of pedal boats or,
in this case, jump boats. Trained athletes have raced Trampofoils
for distances up to 7 miles.
