This patent appears to be nothing more than the Magnetic Gate with some new
applications. The patent says that the connecting pins are not necessary, and
that any method of aligning the magnets using non-magnetic materials can be
used. It also states that the un-opposed magnet may or may not be used
depending on whether you want the beam projecting from both ends or not. The
alignment magnets (at least three) must only face the same geographic center (a
magnetic gate right?). In any case, I agree that the applications for the
device are intriguing.
