Hi all,

Jim,
I have felt the same thing from different TV's and computer monitors
at different times. This is the Static/Magnetic/Electron pulsed field
emanating from the TV/MOnitor at start up (the pulse or shock). From
those that I have felt the most profound effect were those same ones that I
could measure the EM field some distance away from the monitor/tv. I
used a little device that measures/checks bulbs in a light socket for series
christmas tree lights. It's suppose to tell you which bulb is burnt out.
I think the use I found to use it is alot better. I picked the thing up at
a Hardware store that was going out of business for a quarter. I see
that Mennards or Fleet Farm had them for a dollar or two.

Bob here
I have used this device also to find hot wires & burned out christmas bulbs it
would give you 1 to 3 bulbs to check the hard way.

The old device I took apart to try to increase the distance & I made matters
worse along with the case not handling the lenght of the double A batteries.
So I purchased a new one which has no sound & only has one LED & uses hearing
aid size batteries.

The old device was called a AC/DC non-contact voltage tester, also claims
detects high voltage from a distance. What it does is picks up the HOT side of
the AC line till a break or picks up the high voltage of a TV a few feet away.
Most monitor's have better sheilding so you have to be closer to pickup the
high voltage.

My new device is a Radio Shack Cat No 22-103 for $12.99 & is a
AC circuit Voltage Sensor only claims finds hot wire & check for proper
ground.

What I find interesting is I live 1/2 mile from an edison corridor I decided
to take my
new tester a smaller pocket size with me & see if it would pickup anything
near the corridor & yes it did pick it up. This test was done on a dark foggy
morning & I got
light next to people's back yards but I never redid the test for better
distance's.

I sure am glad 5 years ago when looking for a new house I steered my wife away
from the house with the backyard connecting to the edison corridor.

So Tom you may find out you are sensitive to high voltage.
I am hard of hearing but can hear noise when a triac ( a semi conductor in a
light dimmer) is first turned on, & I do not mean the high pitch noise the
cheap dimmers
give off as I can not hear that.

Thats all I can think of for now.

Happy testing & a New Year

Bob
