Hi Matthew!

Have you ever heard of 'conjunctivitis'? I didn't mention it because
it didn't really relate, though now I think it might.

There have been many discussions about how these things disappear and
reappear out of nowhere. One of the theories is that they shift the
light from the craft into a region that we can't see, specifically UV.
High intensity UV produces a cold heat that will burn as you might
have experienced when welding.

People who claim to come into proximity of these craft often claim
burns and conjuctivitis exactly like that produced by UV.

So it could be just high intensity UV that is drying out the soil....
