More recently, in the Phoenix Lights affair, the gov't sent jets out of Luke Air Force Base and then claimed that they didn't; even though a good number of civilians observed them.
Now, considering this is a situation where the gov't has each time said the equivalent of, "naw, tain't thar", it serves to stand to reason that any vaunted credibility in these areas is sadly suspect. Thus, the so-called explanation given to Mr. Dore about the SETI signals is also suspect. One is reminded of the maxim that the best place to hide a lie is between two truths.
I suppose we'll just have to wait until something happens which cannot be covered up or explained away.
Although, personally, if it were me who wanted Dore silenced, I'd give him a million bucks and move him to Brazil.
Threatening someone generates far more publicity than buying them out. Remember the individual at Carleton University in Ottawa, that developed a battery that ran on sugar. Rumours were that he was paid a few million by a company which sat on the patent...
Anyway, enough pontificating, I've got it out of my system so will return to my studies of the twists and turns of the Java language.
.....but first, a nice cup of coffee.
