Assuming the goal is to tap ZPE, and ZPE is a pre-material, information
carrying medium, it is possible the local fabric of reality was being
disrupted. This is a view held by some.
If so, I suppose accidents and "bad luck" would be an indication of
success. I know of several other FE experimenters who have been defeated or
emotionally imbalanced by this supposed effect.
