Hi all!
We all know that a current in a conductor causes a magnetic field around
that conductor. Is this electromagnetic field the same as that of a
magnet?

What if we were to take a thick cylindrical magnet and run a wire
through its center so that an intense current can be pulsed through the
wire to magnetize the magnet according to the natural field shape around
the wire conductor. This magnet now contains all its field with no
poles. It is a circular magnetization.

If the electric current can't exist without creating a magnetic field
then can that same field exist without the current?

What experiments have been done with magnets thusly configured?
Will the impedence of a conductor passing through such magnet be
influenced? Can this work as a rectifier of sorts?
