Well, if you want to get around that start using a radio modem and transmit
to a friends receiver overseas which relays the information to the phone
lines. Granted the speed of transmission for Radio modems is painfully
slow, but do you really need lighting fast speeds to pick up e-mail?
Also, if you could tune into other points in the universe, or in this case
another country, then you could do what I mentioned above, but this time the
atmospheric noise would be a lot less, therefore higher data rates would be
achievable.
Should be a piece of cake :)
