Hi all !
In working on the Clem Engine design, my handy cheat sheet of rules of
thumb came up missing. Can someone tell me the velocity in feet per minute
that the hydraulic flow in a .5 in. stainless tube changes from laminar to
turbulent.? This tube will have no bends in it less than 3" radius. BTW in
Wichita, Kansas there is a place called the Yard Store that is a builders
dream. The main attraction is surplus aluminum from Boeing Aircraft and
other companies. From .25 in. Dia. x .062 wall aluminum tubing to slabs 60
in. x 6 in. x 240 in. in various aircraft alloys. Many sizes of stainless
steel sheets and tubing. A few sizes of brass and copper sheets and tool
steel rods. ALL of this at between 15% to 35% of new prices.
Thanks to all for your previous help and encouragement.
