Clem Engine Construction

I am new to the list but not to the list's topics .
Upon careful study of Joseph Newman’s book and construction of a small
prototype it dawned on me that using Newsman’s own figures it was much much
cheaper to buy electricity than pay for all that copper and get electricity
free.
So... I have been following the discussion of the Clem engine closely. With
my machine tools, access to a gray iron foundry, long history of red neck
engineering, and a little spare time this engine could be built for less
than five hundred dollars. The problem is with my lack of understanding of
the basic theory behind this engine. I have an electronics background and
have built many devices over the years. If someone can give me a one page
answer as to why this might work, that makes sense to me, then I will
build this engine and report on it's progress and testing.
