Magnetism 101 and Gary Magnetic Motor

Hi yet again,

I can't believe it! The book that came with the magnetism learning project
kit basically describes the "Gary Effect" right in it. It says:

"A magnetic force field can be changed. If iron, steel, cobalt, or nickel
objects are placed in a magnetic field, they change the field. A piece of
iron, for example, placed across the poles of a magnet is called a 'keeper'.
The magnetic force field 'keeps' flowing through the keeper. It extends the
life of a magnet and allows the magnetic field to take the 'easy path'.
When the iron rod is placed across the poles of the horseshoe magnet, almost
all of the lines of force follow a new path. Did you predict the results of
your experiment correctly?"

Did you predict the results of your experiment correctly? Hell no! I must
have failed that course. I knew about lines of flux (force) and how they
travel (sort of, we are discussing transformers in another list), but I
didn't relate that concept to Gary's "Effect" until just now. I really
thought that in order to create a "free energy" machine, that we would need
to find a new effect, anomaly, etc. of physics and nature. Instead, all I
had to do was buy a kids toy and re-learn something I thought I knew!

Oh well, at least I admitted it. <g>

Regards,

Ed
