There *is* such a thing as transparent aluminum.. i'm not sure quite what
the chemical formula is, but i remember reading something about tit a
couple months back -- it is a crystal of some sort..
The article was about materials (one of them was transparent aluminum)
that the military was considering for the next generation of bulletproof
windshields etc.. I'll post if i find the article, think it was in
Science News..
