there is a formula you can use its purley newtonian.......here it is
......i dont have time to do all the calculations but ill make it simple
one your choice of ions are good but you have missed the best point of
all a ship capable of sucking in its own fuel bussard intersteller ram
gets around the fuel rocket mass equation it so far is only capable of
one tenth C but who knows... heres the equation do with it what you
will im a relativistic mass gain believer as are most modern students
of physics but who cares heres the newtonian formula you asked for
anyway do your own calculations..............................from
"Introduction to Physics for Scientists and Engineers" (Bueche)P.118
V(velocity) - V (original) = v(speed of ejected fuel) ln(1 + m (original
amount of fuel) / M (mass of rocket)) ....... THE FINAL ROCKET SPEED V
IS PROPORTIONAL TO THE SPEED v WITH FUEL IS EJECTED FROM THE
ROCKET..IONS ARE GOOD FOR THIS AS THE HAVE A HUNDRED TIMES THE v OF
CHEMICAL ROCKET ENGINES....THIS IS THE SIMPLEST EQUATION I COULD FIND
REMEMBER ln x = 2.30 log sub 10 x.... it does take integration to arrive
at this equation so it gets rather mathmatical in the end...YOUR V IS
TWO TIMES THE SPEED OF LIGHT JUST PLUG IN SHIP MASS AND ION VELOCITY AND
YOUR DONE.....I SUGGEST HOWEVER YOU CONSULT A PHYSICS TEXT FIRST...LOOK
UP SPECIFIC IMPULSE THATS VERY IMPORTANT ASSUME THE IONS ARE TRAVELING
ALMOST AT C OR 2.997925 X 10 TO THE 8 METERS PER SECOND...
