The other is a neutron magnetometer. The single axis fluxgate magnetometer
is easiest and plans are availabe form Magnetic Research and Jack's prices
are the most reasonable I have found anywhere.
If you are measuring magnets you would want the hall effect type and
sensors are available from many electronics supply houses. All you would
need is an power supply and amplifier for one of these.
