1999 has been changed to Phoenix/Mesa, Arizona=85 July 22-July 25, 1999. =
At
the time of this announcement, we anticipate no changes in the speaker
schedule. However, should they occur, the replacement speakers will be as
capable and every bit as interesting as those in the current lineup. Thos=
e
who wished to attend the conference but did not have the opportunity due =
to
lateness of receiving notices now have a second chance. Those who are
preregistered will be contacted individually to make arrangements for
refunds or transference of registration to the Phoenix Conference. If you

As a consolation to those living in the Seattle area, Paul Pantone has
agreed as a personal favor to go to Seattle and put on a FREE GEET
technology workshop at the Doubletree Inn at Southcenter on Sunday March =
28,
1999. Paul will be in the area from Friday March 26 - Sunday March 28. Fo=

The Phoenix date is firm and confirmed with the Mesa Holiday Inn=85 the s=
ame
location where we held last year=92s conference.
There are many advantages to having the conference in Phoenix in July:
It is easier for attendees to get time off for the conference.
Our info will be in the mail within three weeks enabling many more
members to get the word. (It has been six weeks and many members are just
now receiving their mail!)
We have three times the space as allowed in Seattle.
The facility which we have selected is much more reasonable pricewise.
Whereas guest room rates were $90.00+ in Seattle, in Phoenix the room rat=
es
are $59.00 for the comparable quality.
Travel in the summer is less expensive.
We have a working relationship with the hotel based on last year=92s
conference. The staff is experienced with the needs of our group and is
willing to go the extra mile.
They like us and everything we represent!
It is never an easy decision to cancel an event. However, sometimes it wo=
rks
out for the best. The past few months have been very strenuous as it seem=
ed
roadblock after roadblock was placed in front of the conference organizer=
s.
As a conference organizer for 15 years, I have never had as much difficul=
ty
putting together a conference as I have encountered in Seattle=85. starti=
ng
with just booking the site.
Conferences are hectic places with a great multitude of things happening =
at
once=85 and the preconference phase is critical to a successful conferenc=
e. In
this case too many variables were popping up and Murphy=92s Laws were in =
full
force. Every possible delay imaginable was encountered as we tried to get
the word about the conference out. We even had a nightmare computer scena=
rio
where US West, our internet provider and ourselves had a two week stretch=
of
relay failures, hard disk failures and finally motherboard failures=85 I =
still
do not have my scanner back up. One of the latest is with the airlines
reservation system blinking out. Despite these trials and tribulations, w=
e
persevered and worked our way through nearly every obstacle.
After a final appraisal of the entire situation, I decided that it would =
be
better to delay a few months and have a GREAT conference. If anyone has g=
one
to a poorly organized conference, they know what a miserable place they c=
an
be! I will not put on a "Keystone cops" style of conference. I am mighty
particular where I spend my money and I expect you are too=85 therefore I=
work
hard to see that every attendee gets the full measure of value from my
conferences=85 and demand high quality from all of my providers.
Will I attempt to do another conference in Seattle? The answer is most
likely, but only after I am able to get up there person and do a thorough
site survey. The earliest possible date for Seattle would be Fall of 2000.
If there is any one thing that attendees can do to make things easier on =
the
staff, it is to PREREGISTER!!!! Preregistration is important. It allows t=
he
planners to determine numbers for room arrangements, catering arrangement=
s,
etc. Preregistration also insures that you will have a place to sit in th=
e
conference. Unfortunately many people believe they can wait until they ge=
t
to the door to get in=85 then they get all upset at the fact that space i=
s
limited. It is the conference organizers nightmare.
We encourage everyone to sign for Phoenix at the first available
opportunity. We are allowing a 25% Discount to members who preregister by
APRIL 30, 1999.
Some people complain about the high cost of attending a conference=85 her=
e=92s
an excellent way of keeping the costs down and insuring yourself of a sea=
t
at the conference. We expect an attendence of 300 or greater in Phoenix.
I wish to thank our many supporters who have helped in this endeavor and
want them to know that their work was not in vain. We will be having the
conference, only it will be in Mesa, Arizona July 22-25. The work in
bringing new technology to light will continue and in the end=85 a new
paradigm for energy independence and alternative health will emerge.
