You guys got it all wrong. The aurora is caused by charge particles from the
solar wind that get guided down the magnetic field lines of the earth to the
north and south poles and then collide with the upper atmosphere. This is why
it only appears at the magnetic poles of the earth.
It is just like a neon tube in a way. The thin air up there lights up.
It is most active during sunspot cycles. No antimatter involved at all.
