If you can get a battery that has zero internal impedance
then you'll have the 'perfect battery' that never goes dead.
How about super conducting mercury? There was a very old
Sci-Fi novel called "The Ultimate Weapon" that went into
some of this, but it was short on the details of how it was
being done (probably since it was Sci-Fi).
