I attended a conference about 3 years ago where a very well-known
scientist had agreed to pop in to report on his latest research...I can't
remember his name offhand, but he showed these marvelous slides of a
collimated bright light source and what happens when it went through
various gemoetric patterns. Just blew me away...I have notes on it
somewhere and meant to write it all up...he also has a book with these
pictures. The light was beamed through plates that had one or more holes
in various patterns and they created the most unexpected optical and
moire type patterns....I had forgotten about it...have to order that book
if its still available....at the time it seemed to reveal completely
unsuspected orders of complexity that were either induced or revealed
from the light by the pattern of the holes that the light shone through.
