Sounds a lot like the Ionocraft -- remember that one? It used a column of
ionized air to do keep a craft aloft, much as a helicopter's blades do
(creating a column of air, that is). Wonder whatever happened to them,
anyway... the Ionocraft's design certainly wasn't implausable -- in fact,
I'd have love to seen them turn it into the world's most efficient GEV. :)
