The commercially used Fire Extinguishing Gas you are thinking about is
"HALON". I know that the local hydro sub-station buildings and high
risk Computer rooms use it. It is released by a solenoid control valve
connected to pressurized steel cylinders filed with this gas and wired
to Fire Alarm Detection Systems. It is extremely fast acting in
consuming oxygen in the rooms and expensive!
